App removal and local cleanup

Uninstall DuckType

Removing DuckType removes the app, but it does not automatically remove local data or downloaded models. DuckType keeps those files so a reinstall can reuse your settings, history, and model downloads.

macOS

  1. 1. Press Command+Q, or choose DuckType > Quit DuckType from the menu bar.
  2. 2. Open Applications.
  3. 3. Move DuckType to Trash.

Optional full cleanup

Delete these folders only if you want DuckType fully removed from this device.

App data folder

Contains settings, database, recordings, dictionaries, skills, and logs. Deleting it removes local history and app settings.

~/.ducktype

Models folder

Contains downloaded local transcription models and dictionaries. Deleting it frees disk space, but DuckType will need to download local models again if you reinstall.

~/.ducktype/models

If you changed the model location, use the path shown in DuckType Settings, General, Storage, Models folder.

Delete folders from your file manager only after DuckType is closed. If you keep either folder, DuckType can reuse it after reinstalling.
