What this notice covers
This notice covers cookies, local storage, and similar technologies used by the DuckType website, dashboard, public demo, and desktop app. Some technologies are essential for the service. Others, such as analytics, are optional.
Strictly necessary storage
- Authentication cookies and session storage for login, account security, and dashboard access.
- Security, rate-limit, and fraud-prevention signals needed to protect the service.
- Theme, locale, and UI preferences needed to remember choices you make.
- Public demo local storage when you choose to keep demo dictations, dictionary entries, or shortcuts in your browser.
Optional analytics and feature storage
When analytics are enabled, DuckType may use PostHog EU to store an identifier and send product events such as feature usage, coarse settings, and performance metrics. DuckType does not use analytics to send dictation text, recordings, API keys, or personal content.
Email and subscription links
Product update confirmations, unsubscribe links, account links, billing links, and password reset links use tokens so the requested action can be completed securely.
Changing choices
You can accept or decline optional analytics from the cookie banner. Signed-in users can also control usage analytics from dashboard account settings, and desktop users can control anonymous diagnostics from desktop settings.
Analytics preference
Optional analytics are currently declined in this browser.
