Ben's story

I built DuckType after nerve surgery.

I had surgery on my median nerve and could not lift even a loaf of bread. I could still use my computer, but my fingers were numb and I kept missing keys. I built DuckType because I needed to keep working, and I did not want my page contents sent over the internet just so I could dictate.

It is not just for surgery recovery. It is for any time typing is slower than speaking.

Why I built my own

I wanted dictation that did not need to read my screen.

Sometimes typing is the slow part

Pain, fatigue, travel, or long meetings can make typing slower than speaking. DuckType inserts the result where your cursor is.

Raw dictation needs cleanup

Most speech needs edits before you send it. DuckType cleans it up before pasting.

No recorder joins your call
