Who provides DuckType

DuckType is provided by ORTH LTD, company number 13816782. These terms apply when you use the DuckType website, desktop app, DuckType Cloud, account features, demos, subscriptions, and support channels.

Accounts and security

You are responsible for keeping your account and devices secure. Use accurate account information, keep sign-in links and tokens private, and tell us promptly at hello@app.duck-type.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans, checkout, billing, invoices, subscription changes, cancellations, and the billing portal are handled through Polar. Usage limits, plan names, and included usage may change over time, but changes will not remove already-paid access for the current billing period except where required for abuse, legal, or security reasons.

Cloud, AI, and accuracy

Transcription and AI outputs can be wrong. You are responsible for checking important output before relying on it, especially for medical, legal, financial, employment, or safety-related uses. DuckType may apply quotas, rate limits, abuse controls, and service restrictions to protect the service.

Third-party providers

If you connect your own API key or choose a third-party provider, that provider's terms, pricing, data handling, and service limits apply to your use. DuckType is not responsible for third-party provider outages, billing, output, or data handling outside DuckType's control.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use DuckType to break the law, violate rights, or process content you are not allowed to process.
  • Do not abuse, overload, reverse engineer, resell, or interfere with DuckType services.
  • Do not try to bypass quotas, rate limits, payment controls, or security controls.
  • Do not submit malware, secrets you do not have authority to share, or content intended to harm the service.

Local data and backups

The desktop app can store dictations, settings, models, notes, shortcuts, and other app data locally. You are responsible for your device backups and for deleting local data from devices you no longer control.

Liability

DuckType is provided with reasonable care, but no software or AI system is perfect. To the fullest extent allowed by law, DuckType is not liable for indirect losses, lost profit, lost data, business interruption, or reliance on unchecked transcription or AI output.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales, except where consumer law gives you mandatory rights in your country of residence.
