Latest versionsmacOS v0.61.0Windows v0.57.0Linux not available yet

v0.61.0

Latest for macOS

Features

  • Add automatic Apple Speech English setup during onboarding on supported Macs, for offline dictation or cloud fallback.
  • Add aliases when creating snippets in Customize.
  • Add meeting reminders 10 seconds before the start as the new default, preserving your existing reminder timing.

Bug fixes

  • Fix calendar descriptions showing HTML tags in meeting notifications and calendar details.
  • Improve DuckType Cloud meeting summaries with DeepSeek V4.1 Flash.
  • Improve meeting focus mode with a steady red recording light.
  • Improve new meeting chats by focusing the text input automatically.
  • Fix live dictations occasionally losing the end of a sentence.

v0.60.0

Features

  • Add search across meeting notes, summaries and transcripts, as well as titles and tags. Each result shows a snippet explaining why it matched, and the list can be narrowed by tag, folder and date range. Meeting rows show a short preview from the latest summary or notes, and their highlight and marker counts link straight to that moment in the transcript. Clicking a meeting title now opens it, and the chevron expands the row.
  • Add clickable #tags on every meeting row and on the meeting page. Clicking a tag filters the list to that exact tag across all dates, and typing a tag with or without the leading # finds it either way. Tags refresh as soon as a note is saved, including edits made in another editor, without restarting the app.
  • Add a search box to the re-transcribe menu, start it with the models you used most recently, and list installed Apple Speech languages alongside the downloaded local models. The same list now backs the model badge and the multi-select bar, and Apple Speech works for meeting segments too.

Bug fixes

  • Move meetings that are still importing to the top of the meetings list, with their stage and progress, instead of the sidebar. A running import can now be cancelled from that row or from the meeting page, and a cancelled or failed import stays in that group with Retry and Delete until it is dealt with.
  • Fix DuckType bar actions reading the wrong selection when the selected text is inside DuckType itself. Use selected text, restyle, and skills now act on the text selected in a DuckType window instead of falling back to whatever was selected in the previous app. When nothing was selected anywhere, the bar now says so instead of reporting a clipboard error.
  • Fix live cloud dictation dropping the last few words of dictations longer than about 36 seconds. The transcription service commits part of the text on its own around that point, and DuckType mistook that earlier commit for the answer to its final one, so the words spoken after it never made it into the result. Retranscribing the recording already showed the full text, and live dictation now does too.
  • Fix cloud dictation sitting at "Transcribing" when the network is up but has no internet. DuckType now fails over to the offline model promptly instead of waiting on a connection that would never open.

v0.59.0

Features

  • Add Meta Muse Voice Transcribe as a bring-your-own-key provider for live dictation and file transcription.
  • Add Microsoft MAI-Transcribe-2 with your Azure Speech key for dictation and file transcription, including dictionary hints and speaker labels in recorded meetings.
  • Add Soniox v5 speech-to-text for streaming dictation, meetings, and batch file transcription.
  • Add "Join only" and "Record only" options to upcoming calendar event menus on the Home and Meetings pages, and use the same labels in meeting reminders.
  • Improve the floating notification cards with one consistent layout, spacing, and lighter shadow, with the close button in the top left corner of every card. Meeting reminder descriptions, locations, and attendees can now be expanded in full instead of being cut off.
  • Replace operating system notifications with compact DuckType notification cards that close after 10 seconds and keep a seven-day notification history. Upcoming meeting reminders use a smaller, denser layout.
  • Detect Zoom and other native meeting calls from microphone or camera activity, even when the meeting app is in the background.
  • Add a per-import transcription model override, with secondary file options grouped under Advanced.
  • Replace the "Press ⌘Q again to quit" overlay on macOS with an alert explaining that DuckType keeps running so your dictation shortcut and meeting reminders still work, with Keep Running in Background or Quit. Tick "Don't ask again" to remember the choice, or change it later in Settings, General, Startup.
  • Add a floating countdown card when a recorded meeting appears to end, with Keep recording, Stop now, and Don't ask again for this meeting. The warning appears within seconds of the meeting signal disappearing, stopping the recording manually clears it immediately, and all auto-stop follow-ups stay inside DuckType.
  • Add a progress line to upcoming meeting reminders showing when they will dismiss themselves.
  • Rename Shortcuts to Snippets, matching the iOS app. Saved text expansions now live at Customize > Snippets, and old links to the Shortcuts page still work.

Bug fixes

  • Move alerts and meeting reminders closer to the top-right corner with consistent spacing.
  • Improve meeting audio imports by running them in the background. The import dialog reads each file's length without decoding it and closes as soon as the import is queued. While an import runs, the sidebar shows its stage and progress and links to the meeting, the meeting page shows a Copying stage while the source is safeguarded, and a failed import raises a notification that opens the meeting.
  • Fix hover-to-close for meeting reminders on macOS and stop meeting cards from stealing focus. Upcoming meeting cards now size to their content, with long descriptions still scrollable.
  • Improve notifications by pausing dismissal and the countdown on hover or keyboard focus, then resuming with at least three seconds remaining.
  • Improve notification countdown bars so they match across cards, and dismiss ordinary upcoming meeting reminders after 20 seconds.
  • Improve model labels in the tray and app, remove inconsistent coverage counts from the quick picker, and clarify that supported-language lists include regional variants.
  • Fix ElevenLabs Realtime showing incorrectly in the menu bar provider picker when live dictation is enabled.
  • Fix Deepgram live dictation sometimes waiting several seconds after recording stops.
  • Improve Meta Muse Voice Transcribe so dictations finish faster after recording stops.
  • Add the macOS "When you quit" setting to settings search. Searching for "quit", "keep running" or "background" now takes you straight to it in Settings, General, Startup.
  • Fix ElevenLabs realtime dictation sometimes appending duplicate partial text after the final transcript.
  • Fix notification close buttons not appearing on hover on macOS while another app is active, and stop dismissing a notification from bringing DuckType to the front.
  • Improve the menu bar menu so Settings opens in one click instead of through a submenu. "Show DuckType bar now" moves up next to "Open Overlay" and is hidden when the bar is turned off rather than greyed out.
  • Fix recorded meetings moving to a different day after editing their title or notes.
  • Fix the Meetings list showing a stale name after renaming a meeting from its page. The list, the Home agenda, and the calendar views also pick up finished recordings, automatic titles, and completed imports while you are on another page, instead of a minute later.
  • Fix clicking the DuckType window on macOS to bring it to the front closing open dialogs, menus, or popovers, or pressing whatever the click lands on. The window controls are now the native macOS traffic lights, which still respond on the first click.
  • Fix notification and meeting prompt cards sometimes appearing blank until their window was recreated.
  • Move DuckType Cloud to the top of the tray menu provider picker.
  • Fix rescheduled or deleted calendar events lingering in the tray after a successful refresh.
  • Fix pasting into slow apps by keeping dictation text available long enough before restoring the previous clipboard, and make Paste Last recover the newest dictation when saving it fails.

  • Add Deepgram Flux text-to-speech with English voices, speed and expressivity controls, and WAV, MP3, and Opus output.

  • Improve the Meeting detected card with a more compact layout, reliable layering, and automatic dismissal.
  • Improve DuckType Cloud dictation by enabling streaming by default, including for existing users previously carried forward on Batch.
  • Fix calendar reminders so their data refreshes before use and a successful Join dismisses the reminder.
  • Fix Statistics chart tooltips remaining visible after their graph scrolls away.
  • Fix interrupted meeting imports so copied audio remains recoverable and Retry stays available after a restart or failure.
  • Improve Meetings day navigation with cached results, parallel calendar loading, and background preloading of nearby days.
  • Improve streaming cloud dictation by filtering nearby background speech.

  • Fix old dictation text briefly appearing in the DuckType bar when a new dictation starts.
